The Conversation You Are Afraid To Have

My team knows all too well that,

"The quality of our lives is directly related to the number of uncomfortable conversations we are willing to have."

We have all been there before.  Dodging that one phone call, or avoiding that one person.  STOP IT.  A while ago, I was having a conversation with one of my good friends who specializes in property management.  I asked him if the tenants were happy in a particular project he was working on.  His response:

"I don't know.  We don't really talk to the tenants because we don't want them to ask for stuff.  It's better business to let them just call us when there is a problem."

THATS NUTS.  While you are afraid to ask your tenants
if they are happy at your property, my team is stealing those tenants for someone else's property next door.  Your clients, tenants you represent, landlords you work with, etc.  What do they say when one of your competitors comes knocking at the door?  Do they tell them that they are happy with who they currently work with (YOU) and hang up, or do they listen to what your competitor has to say?

Ask if they are happy with your service.  If they say yes, ask if there is anything you could do to better serve them.  If they give you a suggestion, TAKE IT.  Take that suggestion and integrate it in the soul of your business.  Asking will improve your business.  Asking will improve your relationship with your client.  Asking shows you care more about your clients success than you do about your ego.

For some of you, this will be an easy conversation.  You are busting your ass, and your clients appreciate it.  For others of you...I have some bad news.  Your clients are going to say one, or maybe two things that they are not happy with.  Don't take it personally.  Don't cry.  Just go back to your desk and figure out how you can not only address your clients issues, but go the extra mile to wow them.

Don't settle for being a good agent.  Strive to be the best in your market.

That's All.  Go make some deals!!!
